The breach was officially reported to the Texas Attorney General's office on March 26, 2025, and to the Massachusetts Attorney General's office on March 28, 2025.

According to the company's disclosure, the data breach affected at least 791 individuals in Texas and 124 individuals in Massachusetts. IOU Central Inc. notified affected consumers via U.S. Mail, informing them of the incident and the potential exposure of their personal data.

Second, you can place a security freeze on your credit reports. A security freeze prevents credit reporting agencies from releasing your credit information without your express authorization. To place a security freeze, you must contact each of the three major credit bureaus individually.
