About Benefits Partner, LLC dba Salus Group

Benefits Partner, LLC, doing business as Salus Group, is an employee benefits consulting, brokerage, and administration firm based in Sterling Heights, Michigan. Founded in 2005 by CEO Michael Brillati, Salus Group provides insurance, human resources, staffing services, retirement planning, payroll services, employee wellbeing programs, and compliance support for COBRA, HIPAA, and healthcare reform.

The company serves various clients across the United States, including school districts, construction companies, physician groups, and associations. Salus Group has approximately 66 employees listed on LinkedIn and reported annual revenues of around $7 million as of 2025.

In December 2024, Salus Group was acquired by NFP, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Aon plc, as part of a strategy to expand benefits consulting and brokerage services. Following the acquisition, Salus Group continues to operate nationwide, with significant client bases in Florida, Georgia, and Alabama.

What was the October 2024 Data Breach?

On October 9, 2024, Salus Group experienced a data breach involving unauthorized access to an employee's email account. Upon discovering suspicious activity, Salus Group immediately disabled the account, reset the employee's password, and launched an investigation with the assistance of a third-party forensic firm.

The investigation confirmed unauthorized access to the email account on October 9, 2024, but was unable to determine which specific emails were viewed by the unauthorized party. As a result, Salus Group conducted a comprehensive review of the email account's contents. This review concluded in late February 2025, and the company began notifying affected employers and insurance carriers around March 27, 2025.
