Steps to take if affected by the data breach

If you have been affected by this data breach, it is crucial to take immediate action to protect your personal information. Here are some recommended steps:

  1. Monitor Your Accounts: Regularly check your bank and credit card statements for unauthorized transactions.
  2. Credit Report Review: Obtain a free credit report from each of the three major credit bureaus—Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion—and review them for any suspicious activity.
  3. Fraud Alert: Consider placing a fraud alert on your credit file. This can make it harder for identity thieves to open accounts in your name.
  4. Security Freeze: You may also opt for a security freeze on your credit report, which will prevent creditors from accessing your credit report to open new accounts.
  5. Identity Theft Protection Services: Consider enrolling in identity theft protection services that offer credit monitoring and alerts.
  6. Report Suspicious Activity: If you notice any signs of identity theft, report it immediately to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and your local law enforcement.
