In a data breach incident, FTV Employment Services, a leader in employee compensation data and software, experienced unauthorized access to its network. The breach, which took place between January 25, 2023, and November 6, 2023, was discovered on September 3, 2024. This breach affected approximately 10,680 individuals across the United States, including 324 in Texas, 126 in Massachusetts, and 5 in Maine.

The breach involved two separate unauthorized third parties who gained access to the company's network, viewing and acquiring sensitive data.

The types of consumer information exposed include:

  • Full names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Financial account numbers
  • Driver’s license numbers
  • Government-issued ID numbers (e.g., passport, state ID card)
  • Credit or debit card numbers
  • Health insurance information
  • Dates of birth

The breach's severity is underscored by the wide range of personal and financial information compromised, which could potentially lead to identity theft and financial fraud.

FTV Employment Services's Response

In response to the breach, FTV Employment Services took action by engaging leading external cybersecurity experts to investigate the incidents. The company issued a precautionary notice to all current employees in November 2023 and has since been notifying affected individuals. They are offering 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring through Equifax to those impacted. Additionally, FTV has enhanced its security monitoring capabilities and technical controls to prevent future incidents.

Steps for Affected Individuals

If you are affected by this data breach, it is crucial to take the following steps to protect your identity and financial information:

  1. Enroll in Credit Monitoring: Take advantage of the 24-month credit monitoring service offered by FTV Employment Services through Equifax.
  2. Monitor Financial Statements: Regularly review your bank and credit card statements for any unauthorized transactions.
  3. Check Your Credit Report: Obtain a free credit report from each of the major credit bureaus to check for any suspicious activity.
  4. Place a Fraud Alert: Consider placing a fraud alert on your credit files to make it more difficult for identity thieves to open accounts in your name.
  5. Consider a Security Freeze: If you are particularly concerned, you can place a security freeze on your credit reports to prevent new credit accounts from being opened without your consent.
