On August 16, 2024, ERLC, LLC, operating as Elitecare Emergency Hospital, disclosed a significant data breach affecting approximately 15,000 individuals in Texas. This breach involved unauthorized access to sensitive personal and health information stored within the hospital's network.

The breach was reported to the Texas Attorney General's office, and further details can be found on the Texas Attorney General's website. Additionally, information about the breach is available on the Massachusetts Attorney General's website.

By July 17, 2024, it was confirmed that the incident was a cybersecurity breach, during which unauthorized access to personal and protected health information (PHI) occurred. 1. Enroll in Credit Monitoring: Take advantage of the two years of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services offered by Elitecare. Visit to enroll using your provided enrollment code.
  2. Monitor Financial Statements: Regularly check your bank and credit card statements, as well as your credit reports, for any unfamiliar activity. Report any suspicious transactions to your financial institution immediately.
  3. Review Medical Records: Keep an eye on your medical records and explanation of benefits statements for any services you did not receive. Contact your healthcare provider or insurance company if you notice any discrepancies.
  4. Place a Fraud Alert: Consider placing a fraud alert on your credit file to warn creditors of potential identity theft. This can be done by contacting any of the three major credit bureaus.
  5. Consider a Security Freeze: You may also opt to place a security freeze on your credit report, which restricts access to your credit file and can prevent new accounts from being opened in your name without your consent.
