On or about July 8, 2024, Berman & Rabin, P.A. discovered suspicious activity on their computer systems, which included the encryption of certain files. This led to an investigation revealing that an unknown actor had gained access to their systems between July 5, 2024, and July 8, 2024.
The investigation concluded on October 8, 2024, when Berman & Rabin determined that personal information might have been accessed. The firm disclosed the breach affected 151,944 individuals in the United States, including 247 residents of Maine.

Upon discovering the breach, Berman & Rabin acted swiftly to secure their systems and launched a comprehensive investigation. They also notified federal law enforcement. The firm has since implemented additional security measures and provided training to employees to prevent future incidents.
To support those affected, Berman & Rabin is offering access to 12 months of credit monitoring services through IDX at no cost. They have also provided guidance on protecting against identity theft and fraud, including how to place fraud alerts and security freezes on credit files.
